What happened at Brabazon in 2024?
Let's look back at the highlights and milestones of the past 12 months and offer a sneak peek of what’s coming over the horizon in 2025!
Winter
Planning Approved for Student Accommodation
January started with a bang, with planning permission granted for 1,514 student beds at Brabazon.
Located next to the new train station planned for Brabazon, the purpose-built student accommodation has four mansion-style blocks with plenty of shared indoor and outdoor space to ensure the next generation at Brabazon can really thrive.
A Heart-Safe Community
Brabazon joined hands with the heroes from the Great Western Air Ambulance charity, pledging to become the South West’s first heart-safe community.
As part of the partnership, defibrillators and vital first-aid training will be rolled out, ensuring that safety and wellbeing remain at the heart of our neighbourhood.
Approval Secured for the Updated Masterplan
Our updated masterplan will create a thriving neighbourhood at Brabazon. There will be more homes of all types and tenures, alongside creative workspaces, shops, cafés, parks, and schools.
The updated masterplan was approved in February. Getting the green light is a major milestone for our community and our vision!
Spring
Restoration Started on Hangar 16U
In Spring, work began to restore a historic Grade II-listed hangar from the airfield’s past into Hangar 16U – a new, local social hub for North Bristol.
Once complete, the building will serve as a vibrant new local, social hub at Brabazon, returning it to its rightful place at the heart of the community once again.
The transformation will honour Brabazon’s rich aviation heritage while creating more a space for connection and creativity in the neighbourhood!
First Workspaces at Brabazon Opened for Business
The innovative workspace provider Forward® moved Boxworks - Bristol’s original shipping container offices - to Brabazon!
The move has kickstarted a new era for startups and small businesses in North Bristol, breathing more life into the new community.
Boxworks officially opened for business and welcomed its first tenants in March, including a new barbershop!
Summer
Brabazon Hit the Screens
Brabazon’s first TV ad aired on Sky’s on-demand services throughout June, forming one part of a larger on- and offline campaign with the theme of ‘dreams’.
The advert combines rare historic footage of the pioneers of the former airfield’s past with a montage of the new homes at this thriving new community. We think Brabazon looks great on the small screen!
View Apartment Opened at The Dials
In July 2024, we opened our very first "View Apartment" at The Dials.
Designed with the experts at John Lewis Cribbs Causeway, the apartment combines timeless style and modern convenience with a touch of affordable luxury, making it perfect for first-time buyers.
The First Green Space Opened at Brabazon
Residents at Brabazon got together to celebrate the opening of the first section of Brabazon Park in July with a ‘Party on the Green'.
The event brought together the growing and diverse community that already call Brabazon home and was swiftly followed by the first resident-led festival: BrabFest!
Own New Rate Reducer Launches at Brabazon
Brabazon now offers Own New Rate Reducer on selected apartments! This is a financial scheme designed to help make it more affordable for aspiring homeowners to take a step on, or up the property ladder.
With the scheme, home movers may be able to buy a new home at Brabazon with lower monthly mortgage payments.

Autumn
The Heritage District Launches at Brabazon
In October we unveiled The Heritage District - our latest collection of energy-efficient, high-specification homes at Brabazon! Built around a network of “living streets”, this new district is designed to bring people together and help us all to live more sustainable lifestyles.
The collection sees the return of some of our most popular property types from The Hangar District, alongside brand-new homes, blending innovation with timeless charm.

The Dials Welcomes its First Residents
Later in October, the first new residents got the keys to their contemporary new apartments at The Dials!
Featuring a well-appointed gym, landscaped gardens, under-croft parking and a statement double-height entrance, the apartments at The Dials have been a hit among first-time buyers, investors and downsizers alike.
Recognition for Brabazon
Brabazon was announced as the Winner of the coveted Large Development category at the prestigious international Brick Awards.
Judges commended the outstanding architecture and craftsmanship that defines our community! This is the first international recognition for Brabazon and a fantastic way to end the year!
Coming Over the Horizon in 2025
As 2024 comes to a close, we’re looking forward to even more exciting milestones in 2025. So, what’s coming over the horizon at Brabazon in the year ahead? Well, we can tell you that there’s plenty more coming over the horizon…
- The first residents will be moving into the new homes at The Heritage District;
- We will be completing Hangar 16U – the new community hub at Brabazon;
- The first mansion-style buildings of purpose-built student accommodation at Brabazon will ‘top out’;
- New infrastructure will be completed, including parts of the primary road network and new utility connections;
- Pre-construction and detailed design on the YTL Arena, the train station and Brabazon Park will continue moving forward.
